| Janice Bowling for Congress |
| 3/11/2004 |
| Dear Friends,
Greetings from Daniel Brown and Maury Countians for Janice Bowling! I
trust you are looking forward to a year of hard work to help
Republicans win across the state. I know I am!
I’m writing to ask you to join me in supporting Janice Bowling for
Congress in the primary and in the general election this year. I
believe she is the best person to represent the 4th District and will
overtake her opposition in the primary election on August 5, 2004.
In 2002, Al Gore’s chosen man, Lincoln Davis, ran against Janice as a
conservative Democrat. He led many in the 4th district to believe he
stood for conservative values that you and I hold dear. Now, the
American Conservative Union has given him an “F” because of his failure
to live up to his alleged “conservative” views.
Janice Bowling, a true conservative, is poised to win the Republican
nomination. Because of grassroots supporters like you, her campaign is
stronger than ever and she will lead us to victory. Janice Bowling is
our only chance to beat Lincoln Davis in November and return the 4th
district to conservative values. However, she cannot win without your
support.
Show your support for Janice Bowling in one or more of the following
ways: display a sign at your home or business, place a sticker on your
vehicle, contribute financially to the Bowling for Congress campaign,
or express your support in person to Janice. Most importantly—vote
Bowling for Congress on August 5, 2004—and tell everyone you know to do
the same!
This Friday is your first opportunity to show your support for Janice
Bowling. She will be attending the Maury County Republican Party
Lincoln Day dinner that evening. The dinner will begin at 6:30 pm and
will be held at the Memorial Building on West 7th Street in downtown
Columbia. Tickets are $15 and may be picked up from the Maury County
Republican Party headquarters. You may call the Maury GOP headquarters
at (931) 388-5505 for more information.
Come out and show your support for our next congresswoman, Janice
Bowling! If you are unable to attend, but would like to help in other
ways, please call me at 931-334-9992 or email me at
daniel@companyzero.com.
Join me in supporting Janice Bowling and let’s take the 4th
congressional seat back for the Republicans!
Sincerely,
Daniel Brown
Maury County Chair for the Bowling for Congress Campaign
P.S. Be sure to visit her Web site at www.bowlingforcongress.com., or
please direct correspondence via regular mail to Bowling for Congress,

| Dubois-Outstanding Public Servant and Patriot |
| 2/4/2004 |
| What an outstanding public servant and patriot
Maury County has in Rep. Tom DuBois. Truly
exemplifying the title "Representative," Tom has
worked tirelessly to ascertain the needs of the people
of Maury County and to take their concerns to
Nashville. He has visited community centers,
churches, and meeting places from Spring Hill to
Campbell's Station, from Hampshire to Rally Hill to
better serve the people of his district and the
County. Whether he is in Pottsville addressing
flooding from Duck River or in Santa Fe hearing
concerns about a proposed interchange on State Route
840, Tom is where the needs of our citizens call him.
A conscientious lawmaker, Tom has sponsored
legislation to promote economic and community
development and to protect consumers and our seniors
from fraud. His bill prohibiting acceptance of
matricula consular cards for identification purposes
garnered wide support and was signed into law last
year. He has also successfully sponsored legislation
requested by the Maury County Commission.
A devoted husband and father of three, Tom has
nevertheless sacrificed quality family time to be
about the work of the people. His children have
attended the public schools of Maury County, and Tom
served as President of the McDowell School P.T.O. He
was District Chairman for the Boy Scouts of America
and is himself an Eagle Scout.
A civic volunteer, Tom has also given countless
hours to local charities and civic organizations. He
serves on the boards of the King's Daughters' School
and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Maury County. He is
also a member of the Maury County Chapter of the
American Heart Association, Maury Alliance, Rotary,
the Fraternal Order of Police, and the Columbia
Downtown Business and Professional Association.
A veteran, Tom served his country as a Captain in
the United States Army J.A.G. Corps. He was awarded
the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation
Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the National
Defense Service Medal, and an Air Assault Badge, among
others. He currently serves as a Major in the
Individual Ready Reserves and is active in Herbert
Griffin American Legion Post 19.
A friend who is always willing to extend a
helping hand, Tom has earned the respect of those with
whom he comes in contact. It it an honor and a
privilege to to be counted among his supporters.
Respectfully submitted,
Wally Beasley, Jr.

| The President and Thanksgiving |
| 12/5/2003 |
| This makes me feel the same as the day our President landed aboard ABRAHAM LINCOLN .... from an Army Captain in Iraq ..... Happy Thanksgiving ....
We knew there was a dinner planned with Ambassador Bremer and LTG Sanchez.
There were 600 seats available and all the units in the division were tasked with filling a few tables. Naturally, the 501st MI battalion got our table.
Soldiers were grumbling about having to sit through another dog-and-pony show, so we had to pick soldiers to attend. I chose not to go. But, about 1500 the G2, LTC Devan, came up to me and with a smile, asked me to come to dinner with him, to meet him in his office at 1600 and bring a camera. I didn't really care about getting a picture with Sanchez or Bremer, but when the division's senior intelligence officer asks you to go, you go.
We were seated in the chow hall, fully decorated for Thanksgiving when aaaaallllll kinds of secret service guys showed up. That was my first clue, because Bremer's been here before and his personal security detachment is not that big.
Then BG Dempsey got up to speak, and he welcomed ambassador Bremer and LTG Sanchez. Bremer thanked us all and pulled out a piece of paper as if to give a speech. He mentioned that the President had given him this thanksgiving speech to give to the troops. He then paused and said that the senior man present should be the one to give it. He then looked at Sanchez, who just smiled. Bremer then said that we should probably get someone more senior to read the speech.
Then, from behind the camouflage netting, the President of the United States came around. The mess hall actually erupted with hollering. Troops bounded to their feet with shocked smiles and just began cheering with all their hearts. The building actually shook. It was just unreal. I was absolutely stunned. Not only for the obvious, but also because I was only two tables away from the podium. There he stood, less than thirty feet away from me! The cheering went on and on and on. Soldiers were hollering, cheering, and a lot of them were crying. There was not a dry eye at my table. When he stepped up to the cheering, I could clearly see tears running down his cheeks. It was the most surreal moment I've had in years. Not since my wedding and Aaron being born. Here was this man, our President, came all the way around the world, spending 17 hours on an airplane and landing in the most dangerous airport in the world, where a plane was shot out of the sky not six days before. Just to spend two hours with his troops. Only to get on a plane and spend another 17 hours flying back. It was a great moment, and I will never forget it.
He delivered his speech, which we all loved, when he looked right at me and held his eyes on me. Then he stepped down and was just mobbed by the soldiers. He slowly worked his way all the way around the chow hall and shook every last hand extended. Every soldier who wanted a photo with the President got one. I made my way through the line, got dinner, then wolfed it down as he was still working the room. You could tell he was really enjoying himself. It wasn't just a photo opportunity. This man was actually enjoying himself! He worked his way over the course of about 90 minutes towards my side of the room.
Meanwhile, I took the opportunity to shake a few hands. I got a picture with Ambassador Bremer, Talabani (acting Iraqi president) and Achmed Chalabi (another member of the ruling council) and Condaleeza Rice, who was there with him. I felt like I was drunk.
He was getting closer to my table so I went back over to my seat. As he passed and posed for photos, he looked me in the eye and said, "How you doin', captain." I smiled and said "God bless you, sir." To which he responded "I'm proud of what you do, captain." Then he moved on.

| Medicare RX:Republican Socialism |
| 11/18/2003 |
| Monday, Nov. 17, 2003
The Medicare prescription-drug bill is 1,071 pages. Members of
Congress will not get a copy of the bill until Wednesday or
Thursday leaving them only one or two days to read, study and
understand it before casting their vote on Friday or Saturday.
Most House members were barred from the closed-door negotiations,
even though special interests were consulted along the way.
Summaries of parts of the bill are being slowly and selectively
released to members of Congress, the media and the public by the
staff of the committee that wrote it. We will have only a few
days to learn, in fact, what is in those 1,071 pages.
But we don't need to know every detail because supporters of the
bill have already admitted that this new, never-ending
"entitlement" will cost taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars
and, more likely, over $1 trillion. Of course, the politicians
making this decision will be dead when the children of today who
are stuck paying for it, realize what has been done to them and
are able to vote.
To politicians, the only future that matters is the next election.
But as parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and responsible
American citizens today, the future for us is not measured in
such a callous and self-serving way.
The National Taxpayers Union published a chart that tells us what
kind of future our children and grandchildren will have if we
allow this Medicare drug bill to become law. The chart compares
the yearly Medicare expenditures as a percentage of gross
domestic product (GDP) without the prescription drug plan and
with it. The numbers were compiled from the Congressional Budget
Office and the 2003 Medicare Trustees report.
Without a drug "benefit," the percentage of GDP necessary to pay
for Medicare increases from 2.5% to just under 10% over 75 years.
With a drug "benefit," it increases to just under 40%! That's
right. Not 40% of tax revenue or 40% of all government costs
(that would be bad enough), but 40% of the total the U.S.
produces in a year!
THINK ABOUT IT.
The yearly Medicare expenditure will consume close to 40% of our
nation's GDP. But, once again, politicians aren't concerned
about that far into the future.
Urge your congressional delegation to strongly oppose this
Republican socialism. Tell the politicians to be concerned about
the future -- the future beyond the next election. Send your
message now by going to

| Democrat Zell Miller to Endorse Bush |
| 11/3/2003 |
| Fred Barnes reports that Democrat Senator Zell Miller of Georgia has decided to endorse President Bush, calling him "the right man at the right time" for America:
The next five years "will determine the kind of world my children and grandchildren will live in," Miller said in an interview. And he wouldn't "trust" any of the nine Democratic presidential candidates with governing during "that crucial period," he said. "This Democrat will vote for President Bush in 2004."
Miller, who is retiring from the Senate next year, has often expressed his admiration for Bush. He was a co-sponsor of the president's tax cuts in 2001 and 2003. The two got to know each other in the 1990s when both were governors.
The senator's endorsement is important for several reasons. With Miller on board, Bush will have a head start on forming a Democrats for Bush group in 2004. Such a group would woo crossover votes from conservative or otherwise disgruntled Democrats next year. ...
Since he came to the Senate in 2000, Miller has become increasingly critical of Senate Democrats and the national Democratic party. He recently published a new book, "A National Party No More: The Conscience of a Conservative Democrat," in which he criticizes the party for being too liberal, too elitist, and subservient to liberal interest groups.

| **Prayer Request** |
| 11/3/2003 |
| At 10 am this morning he received a prayer request from Cathy
Mitchell.
Her husband, Tony, is an Air Force Commander in Afghanistan. She
received
an urgent email from him this morning. It said, "We need Christians to
pray,
pray, pray."
Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for
their
commanders. Pass this on to as many as you think will respond.
"Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they
protect
us Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for
us
in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and
Savior."
When you receive this, please stop for a moment and say a prayer for
our
ground, air and navy personnel in every area of the middle east. There
is
nothing attached.... This can be very powerful.... Just send this to all
the people in your address book.
Do not stop this prayer chain, please......

| Bush Just Won Second Term |
| 11/3/2003 |
| Greetings all,
Today's report that the nation's Gross Domestic
Product grew at an annual rate of 7.2% in the 3rd
Quarter of 2003 should help ensure President Bush's
re-election next year. For those of you who do not
follow economic indicators, 3-5% growth is
considered
good. The release of this report should end the
criticisms of the President's economic policy and
take
the wind out of the sails of the Democrat
contenders.
Further, the 7.2% growth is the highest quarterly
growth rate in 20 years. The Spring Quarter of 1984
saw a 9% growth rate when, like President Bush, then
President Ronald Reagan was entering his third year in
office. This establishes a reasonable pattern of
free-market Republican Presidents needing around 3
years to clean up the economic blunders of their
Democrat predecessors and get the engines going
again.
We should all be thankful as today is a great day
for
our nation and her future.
Please visit the web-site below for more on today's
report.

| Rial Defeats Incumbent Democrat |
| 10/6/2003 |
| 25th Dist. Tennessee Republican Party State
Executive Committeeman Bob Rial has defeated an
entrenched incumbent democrat for a seat on the
Dickson City Council.
Capturing an overwhelming eighty percent of the
vote over Robert Spencer, a close associate of 25th
Dist. State Sen. Doug Jackson, D-Dickson, Rial stunned
the Dickson establishment and surpassed the most
sanguine expectations of his own most ardent
supporters.
A man of sterling character, Rial will be an
asset to Ward One and the City of Dickson.
Congratulations to Bob and wife Joan. |

| September Meeting Highlights |
| 9/30/2003 |
| Joey Hensley, M.D., 70th Dist. State Rep. and
the only physician in the State Legislature, presented
the program at the September 18, 2003, meeting of the
Maury County Republican Party. Also a Lewis County
Commissioner, a Lewis County School Board member, and
the Lewis County Medical Examiner, his remarks covered
a broad range of issues facing state and local
government.
Hensley said that as a practicing family
physician he had seen firsthand "the need to place the
ten-ton gorilla known as TennCare on a diet." He
believes tighter control of enrollees will help
control the spiraling costs associated with the
seven-billion-dollar program. He said the legislature
was awaiting proposed reforms Gov. Phil Bredesen has
promised will be forthcoming.
Hensley said another urgent need connected to
TennCare is the spiraling cost of insurance to those
buying their own insurance and businesses providing
insurance to their employees. He said he was working
with the Dept. of Insurance and others to introduce a
bill to put more authority behind the Dept. of
Insurance, empowering them to require insurance
companies to justify rate increases. This legislation
would not allow insurance companies to charge existing
customers a higher rate than new customers. Insurance
companies remaining in business but ceasing to operate
in a particular state would be required to continue to
provide insurance to existing customers in that state.
Hensley said the recent legislative session had
not been without disappointments such as the cuts to
state shared revenues which placed additional burdens
on the backs of local governments. As a Lewis County
Commissioner, he was forced to deal with frustrating
budget constraints caused by these reductions.
Another area of concern which was not resolved in
the recent session was $350 million in needed roof
repairs at state colleges and universities. He also
said a much needed crackdown on illegal met
amphetamine use in the state is not being carried out
because of budget constraints.
Hensley received an A.S. from Columbia State
Community College, a B.S. from the University of
Memphis, and a M.D. from the University of Tennessee,
Memphis. He is a founding member of the Lewis County
Education Foundation.
Maury County Medical Society President Robert
McClure, M.D. introduced the speaker, calling him "Mr.
Lewis County."
64th Dist. State Rep. Tom DuBois, Maury County
Clerk Nancy Thompson, Maury County Trustee Steve Konz,
Maury County Commissioner Joe Roberson, Maury County
Parks Secretary Sonja Rine, and Columbia City Council
Candidate Chip Bray were in attendance. The Tennessee
Republican Party was represented by State Executive
Committeewoman Rebecca Algood Moon.
The meeting was preceded by a covered dish
dinner at Party headquarters.

| Jesse Helms is Back and this time he's Black |
| 9/29/2003 |
| Dear Fellow Conservative,
If my name is familiar, it may be because you recently saw me on the FOX
NEWS CHANNEL. Fox News called me a "Rising Star" and "the next J.C. Watts"
and said that I am "the new face of the Republican Party." The Wall Street
Journal called me "the next black Republican Congressman."
http://www.vernonrobinson.com/contribute
AOL CLICK HERE
Even if you haven't heard of me yet, you know many conservatives who have.
At one time or another I have been endorsed by Jesse Helms, Elizabeth Dole,
Dick Armey, Gary Bauer, the NRA, Right-to-Life, Jack Kemp, Bill Bennett, Pat
Buchanan, Pete du Pont, Alan Keyes, Tom Tancredo, and Jeb Bush.
President Bush honored me with an appointment in his administration and
hired me to work on his campaign. That should give you a pretty good idea of
where I stand.
Currently I am the senior Republican member of the Winston-Salem City
Council, where I represent a heavily Democrat district. In my last election
I got an unheard-of 70% of the white vote and 20% of the black vote.
I am a proven vote-getter -- the only black Republican in North Carolina to
be re-elected to partisan public office and the first black candidate to win
the votes of more than one million white voters. In 2002, I ran 15 points
ahead of our popular new Senator (Elizabeth Dole) in the precincts our races
had in common. No other Republican can say that.
This success hasn't come by accident. I earned the confidence of the voters
and these national conservative leaders the same way Ronald Reagan and Jesse
Helms did -- by proving that I am willing to stand up for my *traditional
American conservative* principles -- no matter what the political cost, and
no matter what the liberal media try to say about me.
I don't head for the high grass when the Left turns up the heat. That's just
not my style. I put my trust in God, not my finger to the wind, and my
record proves it.
I jokingly tell my Democrat friends that their party is made up of "the Old
Left, the New Left, and the What's Left." I'm proud to tell you that my
voting record has infuriated them all:
* the pro-abortion fanatics and the radical feminists
* the atheists who file lawsuits attacking the Pledge of Allegiance and the
Ten Commandments
* the gun grabbers, the illegal immigrants, and the environmentalist,
tree-huggin' granolas
* the trial lawyers and the animal rights extremists
* the "one world" globalists who worship at the altar of the United Nations
* the militant homosexuals and the burned-out, hippie peaceniks
* the racial agitators like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton
* the union bosses and the socialists posing as journalists & college
professors
* the government bureaucrats and the tax-and-spend junkies who create their
jobs, and
* the Hollywood elitists -- air-headed actors and singers who think we care
what they think.
http://www.vernonrobinson.com/contribute
AOL CLICK HERE
I am pro-Constitution, pro-national sovereignty, pro-business, pro-property
rights, pro-growth, pro-family, pro-farmer, pro-states' rights, pro-gun, and
pro-life.
I support the death penalty and am disgusted that there are people who
believe a convicted murderer like Charles Manson has a right to life, but
unborn children do not.
A nationally recognized expert on education reform, I authored North
Carolina's Charter Schools Act, and founded two non-profit corporations. One
promotes school choice and the other provides scholarships to private
schools for poor children from inner-city homes.
Today's public schools are caught between the massive government bureaucracy
and the vile teachers' unions. Most of the public schools serving the inner
city are nothing but pre-prison, pre-welfare programs for the students
sentenced to attend them. The answer is market-based reform, not "Midnight
Basketball" and more wasteful spending.
As a black Republican, I will be *especially reviled* by the Left. That's
because I will be able to say the kinds of things many conservatives are
afraid to say out of fear that the liberal media will brand them racist.
For instance, the greatest threat facing young blacks today has *nothing to
do with* white racism or displaying the Confederate flag -- it is
ILLEGITIMACY, which has reached a shameful 71% among American blacks. A lack
of morality and personal responsibility is at the root of the problem. And
we have a federal welfare system that encourages and rewards such behavior!
This must change.
Nor will I be bashful about insisting that the federal government abolish
ALL racial preferences, quotas, and set-asides. I was so outraged by the
Supreme Court's recent ruling in the Michigan law school case (allowing race
to determine who is admitted into public colleges) that I am already working
with legal scholars to devise a lawful means for Congress to withhold
federal funds from any institution (private or public) that uses race in its
admissions process.
My record on this issue is particularly strong. It was my lawsuit against
the University of North Carolina that put an end to its practice of electing
trustees according to strict racial and gender quotas and providing
blacks-only scholarships at taxpayer expense.
As you can see, I'm NOT a Jesse Jackson / Al Sharpton kind of black guy. In
fact, while Al Sharpton was defaming New York law enforcement officers by
falsely claiming they had raped Tawana Brawley in an alley, I was working
hard on the Winston-Salem City Council to get raises for our policemen.
And while Jesse Jackson was chasing women and television cameras and shaking
down corporations for contributions so he could pay hush money to his
concubine for their love child, I was serving my country, earning an honest
living, and working hard at raising a God-fearing family.
And Jackson and I have very different notions of what a family is. For
Jackson and many left-wing public figures, a family can be everything from
"Hillary Clinton's Village" or "Heather's Two Mommies" or "Daddy's Roommate"
to a transvestite, two lesbians, a pedophile, and a partridge in a pear
tree. In my opinion, that does not a family make.
My concept of family is the same as the one God ordained in the Garden of
Eden thousands of years ago -- one man, married to one woman, with so many
children as God should see fit to entrust to their care. In my case, that
means me, Helene (my wife of 20 years), and our three children, the youngest
two of whom we adopted when their mother died of cancer at age 41.
That's the kind of family I grew up in, too. My father was a Tuskegee
Airman, and my mother was a nurse. But more importantly, they were devout
Christian people who taught me right from wrong. Because of my strong
Judeo-Christian upbringing, I can assure you I will not bow to the forces of
political correctness on social issues. I'm proud of my beliefs, and I will
vote accordingly.
I will *vigorously oppose homosexual marriages* and adoptions, as well as
"gay" Scoutmasters. I just don't see how it's a good idea to put a
homosexual in a pup tent with your thirteen year-old son. And yet the
liberals call us bigoted for saying that. What is the world coming to?
As an Eagle Scout myself, I was furious when the United Way threatened to
withhold funding from the Boy Scouts unless atheists and homosexuals were
allowed to serve as Scoutmasters. While other Republicans ran scared from
the issue, I organized a counter-threat to boycott contributions to the
United Way unless it backed off the Scouts -- and it quickly did just that.
Dr. James Dobson featured my efforts on his "Focus on the Family" radio
program, and called it a victory for people of faith across the nation.
That's the same aggressive spirit I will bring to Washington, if you'll help
me.
http://www.vernonrobinson.com/contribute
AOL CLICK HERE
Of course, now that our Supreme Court has "discovered" a right to commit
homosexual sodomy in "our living constitution" (I can't find it in my copy,
but...) it is more important than ever that we send to the Congress men and
women whose sense of decency does not change with the political winds. If we
don't, then homosexual marriage and adoption (and worse) won't be far
behind.
On the question of taxation, let me simply say that in ALL my years in
public office I have NEVER voted for a tax increase of any kind, PERIOD.
In Congress I will join those 36 courageous men and women (including
Majority Leader Tom DeLay) who support the "Fair Tax" legislation, which
would abolish the current code (and all individual audits, and the I.R.S.
itself!) and replace it with a flat national sales tax.
As a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and a former Missile
Combat Crew Commander, I can assure you I am also a staunch supporter of
veterans' interests, and you will not find another member of Congress who
places a higher priority on national defense. And I have to tell you that in
matters of national defense there is much work to be done.
Yes, Ronald Reagan destroyed the Soviet Union, and yes, our military is the
best in the world -- but you are not as safe as you think. The world is
changing, and so are the threats we face. We have no shield against
intercontinental ballistic missiles, and it's getting easier and easier for
the bad guys to get them.
Communist North Korea (whose standing army is larger than our own) now has
the nuclear bomb, and has openly bragged that it intends to sell nuclear
weapons to terrorists, including Osama Bin Laden, if the United States makes
policy decisions that don't please it.
And remember, a ragtag band of Arab misfits used public transportation and a
handful of box-cutters to kill more Americans in the World Trade Center
attack than the Japanese killed at Pearl Harbor. What do you think an
organized terrorist could do with a nuclear bomb?
The mastermind of that attack, Khalid Shaik Mohammed (whom we have
captured), recently told U.S. officials that Al Qaeda was planning to carry
out future attacks, including the firebombing of the Washington Metrorail,
by smuggling operatives and equipment over our unguarded Mexican border.
We have troops in 120 countries around the world, but we won't defend our
own borders with Mexico and Canada!
Our immigration policy is NUTS, and the I.N.S. is corrupt and incompetent.
(The Washington area sniper was here only because of an I.N.S. foul-up!)
Over 400,000 foreign students have overstayed their student visas, and we
simply have NO IDEA where they are! Over thirty thousand of these are from
Muslim countries. Do I have to spell out for you why that is a problem?
My alma mater, the United States Air Force Academy, recently found it had 23
illegal aliens working for it -- more than the number that carried out the
September 11 terrorist attacks. But these illegal aliens were actually
working for a military service academy!
Aliens routinely cross our borders for free medical care in American
hospitals, to pick up American welfare checks, to have their babies born
here (so they will be American citizens eligible for benefits), to work in
sweat shops, to smuggle drugs, and, yes, occasionally to plot and carry out
terrorist attacks on our citizens.
Roaming mobs of aliens intent on entering this country illegally beat ugly
paths through our national forests, trample rare desert vegetation, and
desecrate important Native American archeological sites. They leave their
trash behind, start forest fires through carelessness, and all too often die
in the desert on the way. Then their relatives sue us for not putting
"relief stations" along the more popular smuggling routes. (And now we're
using scarce AMERICAN tax dollars to put these relief stations up!)
Those who manage to survive the trek take jobs away from legal immigrants
and citizens, or turn to public assistance or a life of crime -- against
Americans. This is not a racist observation -- it is a matter of national
security, our fiscal security, and our national culture and identity.
As a Congressman, I will work with Congressman Tom Tancredo (who has
endorsed me) and the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus of which he is
the chairman to address these shocking failures in federal immigration
policy. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
Now is definitely not the time to relax. Now, more than ever, you deserve a
Congressman who will stand tall on the tough issues and not waffle even when
everyone else heads for the hills.
You will be delighted to hear that my campaign has already raised over a
quarter-million dollars! Mine is the only campaign in the 5th District with
contributions from every county in the district, and from every state in the
nation!
More than 15,000 conservatives (folks just like YOU) have already responded
to my promise to fight the loony Left on every issue, no matter what the
political cost, and I thank God for each and every one of them. Over a dozen
Generals, 60 Colonels, and 30 church pastors have become contributors.
That's the good news.
The bad news is that my five millionaire opponents already *loaned
themselves* more than $500,000, and have promised to spend more than SIX
MILLION DOLLARS to defeat me.
Ouch! My family budget doesn't have that kind of money!
I've spent my entire adult life in public service, and I'm just NOT a
wealthy man. I've never tried to make one dime off of my status as a
Winston-Salem City Councilman. I sure didn't get rich in the Air Force
either, or as a college professor, and I didn't inherit any millions.
Remember, my dad was a serviceman and my mother was a nurse. My wife is a
librarian, for goodness' sake!
We're just simple people trying to fight our way through all the
millionaires (who all seem to want to buy a seat in Congress) with our
simple, conservative message of limited government, a strong national
defense, and a Congress whose policies reflect a Judeo-Christian ethic.
But don't go feeling sorry for me, because I'm not ashamed of being middle
class. My public service has made me rich in every way EXCEPT my pocketbook.
It's just that in 2004 the simple fact of the matter is that if you don't
spend at least a million dollars getting your message out, the closest
you'll get to Congress will be watching it on C-SPAN.
No, I have to depend on you and thousands like you who dig deep, and give
sacrificially because they know the election of an aggressive, black
conservative to the Congress would be a nightmare to liberals like Tom
Daschle and Dick Gephardt.
I want to put a burr in Ted Kennedy's saddle. I want to put a bee in Hillary
Clinton's bonnet. I want to give Barney Frank a Maalox Moment. And with your
help I can do it!
http://www.vernonrobinson.com/contribute
AOL CLICK HERE
There is a great deal at stake. My principal opponent is a self-described
"feminist" obsessed with gender quotas who lobbied for Teddy Kennedy's
so-called "Equal Rights Amendment" (ERA). As a state senator, she voted to
fund blacks-only scholarships, and raised taxes and fees more than 100
times. She even admitted that she voted for a bill without ever reading it!
That's frightening!
Even more frightening is that she voted to create special rights for
homosexuals, and has supported the adoption of children by homosexuals. A
millionaire herself, she has been funded by the trial lawyers and the
militant homosexual PAC's. I am alarmed at the prospect that this woman may
represent you and me in Congress! Won't you help me keep that from
happening?
Before you write her off as a kook with no chance to win, let me remind you
that she is a millionaire (one of five running against me) who has the
financial ability to get her own spin, her own twisted message, to the
voters anytime she wants, even if she never receives a single contribution.
Unlike me, she does not have to rely on the generosity of like-minded
conservatives to fund her campaign. Her average contribution is OVER $600.
Mine is about $40, and that's a BIG difference.
The bottom line is that she gets most of her money from the Country Club
Republicans, and I get most of my money from the Wal-Mart Republicans.
There's nothing wrong with either group; it's just that I need a *whole lot
of skinny cats* to make up for her fat cats!
I want to ask you to become one of my 15,000 skinny cats. Of course, I have
some large contributors, too -- business owners (large and small), real
estate, construction, banking, and insurance executives, doctors, lawyers,
accountants, engineers, and wealthy retirees -- but most of my money has
come in smaller checks from people of modest means for whom the contribution
was truly a sacrifice.
http://www.vernonrobinson.com/contribute
AOL CLICK HERE
I have been humbled by the overwhelming support I've received from thousands
of patriotic Americans who care about their country's future. Several people
have actually sent a single dollar bill. One dollar. These smaller
contributions always come with a personal note apologizing for the fact that
they couldn't send more.
Unemployed people, retired people on fixed incomes, single mothers with
children to feed, a Marine Corps private at Camp Lejeune, a grocery bagger,
a waitress, a truck driver, a laborer, a struggling farmer, a home-schooling
mom, a widow, a teacher, a school bus driver, a janitor, a nun -- these
people send their money with a note apologizing to me that they couldn't
send more.
Folks, we've even received contributions from Christian missionaries on the
mission fields of China and Costa Rica. What a sense of responsibility that
lays on my heart.
The truth is that the small contributions barely make up for the cost of
mailing a letter, but so help me, I love to get them, because they remind me
of what Jesus said in the story of "the widow's mite": "I tell you the
truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.
They gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in
everything -- all she had to live on." (Mark 12: 43-44)
When the campaign road is hard and the hours are long and the food is bad
and my wife is mad that the grass isn't mowed, and my three young children
miss me because "Dad's at a meeting" ("meeting" is a dirty word in my
house), and I have 12 messages waiting on the answering machine from
constituents who want to know why their garbage hasn't been picked up --
when these moments come I think of the faith all my widow's mite
contributors have placed in me, and I'm ready to go back into the fiery
furnace.
Could you send your widow's mite (and maybe a little more) today? Your
contribution isn't just a good motivator for me; it is absolutely necessary
to enable us to get our message out. Voters can't stand with me if they
don't know where I stand.
Unlike my opposition (FIVE millionaires!), I cannot loan my campaign a
million dollars. Unlike my opposition, I won't receive thousands of dollars
from the Left's usual suspects -- the greedy trial lawyers, the radical
feminists, the teachers' unions, the homosexual lobby, the environmentalist
extremists, and the limousine liberals.
That's why I hope and pray you will lend me a hand. Even if you've never
made a contribution to a candidate before, could you donate as much as $500
or $1,000? I realize that's a lot of money, but such a large gift will pay
for a television commercial. Or if that's too much, could you send $250,
$100, $50, or even $25? Whatever amount you give, please click below to send
it in today:
http://www.vernonrobinson.com/contribute

My mother always said, "Many hands make light work," and once again her
wisdom lifts my spirits. If every good conservative like you gives what he
or she can, together we WILL get our message out, we will match the
millionaires dollar for dollar, and we WILL win this election.
I know that President George W. Bush can sure use my help and I would be
honored to fight for you on Capitol Hill! Whatever amount you send, please
supplement it with prayers for my family and this campaign -- an even more
valuable and precious gift! And may God bless you as He has blessed America.
With warm best wishes,
Vernon Robinson
P.S. The liberal special interest groups have already targeted me because
they know that if I'm elected, the national media will cover every
conservative pronouncement made by "the black Republican Congressman."
More than 15,000 Americans have made a contribution to my campaign because
they agree with the GOP leaders (such as my Honorary Campaign Chairman, Jack
Kemp) who are calling my race the most important Congressional election this
cycle. I sure hope you will join them! Thanks in advance for your generous
support:

| The Infamous Murder of 1863 |
| 8/14/2003 |
| Historic Ferguson Hall, site of our upcoming
picnic, was the scene of the May 7, 1863, murder of
Gen. Earl Van Dorn. The dashing cavalry commander was
shot to death by a prominent physician and jealous
husband as he sat at his headquarters desk in the
home. Jessie Peters, wife of Dr. George Peters, was
the belle of Spring Hill, and her empty carriage had
been seen parked at the rear of the mansion.
Ferguson Hall, long considered to be one of the
finest homes ever erected in Tennessee, served as the
model for nearby Rippavilla. The home features a
magnificent Temple of the Winds Corinthian portico and
breathtaking spiral staircase.
Never open to the general public, tours are
included in the price of your ticket to the picnic.
Again, the picnic is Sat., August 23, from 5:30
until 7:30. Ferguson Hall is on the campus of
Tennessee Childrens' Home on Main St. in Spring Hill.
Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served. Tickets are

| IMPORTANT!!! TAX INFORMATION |
| 7/15/2003 |
| Well, everyone tomorrow is the big day! Time for us all to MAKE A
STAND FOR OUR MONEY! Tomorrow, July 15th, 2003 at 4:30 p.m. is when we
all need to be at the county commission meeting room in Columbia. If just
each person that gets this email will bring themselves and five friends
this will be a huge success I promise. I believe however we will have
many more than that show up at this meeting. I believe we have them on
the ropes and if we show up in force tomorrow we will defeat this TAX
INCREASE!!! Please see me when you arrive at the meeting to get a sign to
show your support against a tax increase in Maury Co. We want these
commissioners to know exactly where we stand because I am sure the
teachers and county employees will make their voices hear but we MUST BE
LOUDER (in a good way of course). We must all show up to defeat this
increase without YOU it will be like a thief in the night has ran through
your wallets and bank accounts taking what YOU have worked so hard for
during your work week.
Thank you for your time and support on this matter,

| Henry WOW Maury Republicans |
| 6/23/2003 |
| Before making an interesting and informative talk
at the June 19, 2003, meeting of Maury Republicans,
former Tennessee State House Republican Leader Jim
Henry pleasantly surprised all present by arriving
with delicious sandwiches, fruit, cheeses, spreads,
bottled water and soft drinks packed in ice, and big
chocolate chunk cookies for all. Outdoing himself,
the veteran legislator even donated two coolers to the
Party.
Henry began his remarks by saying he had praised
our recent Lincoln Day Dinner in his travels
throughout the State. Henry himself helped make the
event a success through the donation of a Tennessee
country ham toward our auction.
In a folksy,down-to-earth style Henry drew on his
personal family experiences to review the modern
history of Republican politics in Tennessee from its
infancy with Roy Acuff's gubernatorial bid to the
glory days of the Dunn administration to Reagan's
Presidential visit to the present.
A Vietnam veteran, Henry said he was glad the
country had set aside the mentality of that era to
embrace the men and women of today's armed forces. He
said Reagan had done a great deal to set a tone of
respect for the military. On a visit to our State
Capitol, his first official visit after the attempt on
his life, Reagan asked Henry, "How can I make people
feel better about our military?"
A former Tennessee Republican Party Chairman,
Henry said he thought the Republican Party was now the
State's majority party, and he feels the G.O.P. will
do well in future elections. In response to a
question, Henry said he felt Republicans had an
excellent chance to recapture the 4th Congressional
District.
In closing Henry said there was no panacea for
the issues confronting the State and that Republicans
must band together and work hard to effect quality
legislation.

| Town Meeting |
| 6/5/2003 |
| 13th District State Sen. Bill Ketron and 64th
District State Representative Tom DuBois held a town
meeting at Columbia State's Ledbetter Auditorium
tonight. The event was sponsored by the college and
its Political Science Dept.
Ketron said that the biggest issues facing the
State were TennCare, teacher pay equity, and lottery
implementation. He said that the State was going
through tough economic times and that any bills that
had fiscal notes attached were discouraged by Gov.
Phil Bredesen.
DuBois said he looked to local citizens for ideas
on proposed legislation. He said he was concerned
about the impact Bredesen's proposed cuts to state
shared revenues would have on local governments. He
said he would seek alternate ways to stay within the
budget.
One of the questions posed to the legislators
concerned what cuts the General Assembly was making to
its own budget. Ketron and DuBois said that both the
Senate and the House were making nine percent cuts to
their budgets.

| Regime Change in Maury County |
| 6/5/2003 |
| Upon seeing events symbolic of regime change and jubilation in Baghdad, many of the commentators drew
comparisons to other events such as the fall of the Berlin Wall.
I was reminded of an event closer to home: the night of November 5, 2002, when Congresswoman-elect Marsha Blackburn stood on a chair in a Franklin hotel and, punctuating the air with a tube of lipstick held
high in her hand, boldly declared to a jubilant,
cheering crowd, "Maury County is now a Republican
county." We were signally blessed by the election of men of the caliber of Bill Ketron and Tom DuBois to
represent us in the General Assembly. We also elected Lamar Alexander and carried the county for Janice
Bowling and Carl Hewitt on that memorable night.
This is the first time since Reconstruction that
Maury County has had both a republican senator and
representative, and we have a unique opportunity to
show our fellow citizens what republicans can
accomplish for this county. It was great to see Tom,a former Judge Advocate General in the U.S. Army, quoted concerning the war in a prominent front-page
article in the Herald today.
President Bush is a visionary who has freed a
people and gone a long way toward making the world a safer place. His detractors have been silenced for the moment.
It doesn't get any better than this.
Let us forge ahead, for we may not walk this way
again.
May God bless America.

| June Meeting Special Guest |
| 6/5/2003 |
| Former Tennessee House of Representatives

2003, meeting of the Maury County Republican Party.

Republican Leader two years later.
In 1984 Henry became Tennessee Republican Party
Chairman, and his leadership took the Party to new
heights.
Henry's business, OmniVisions, is a child
placement agency and service provider for the mentally
handicapped that employs over six hundred persons in
Tennessee and North Carolina.
The meeting will take place at our 803 South Main
Street Headquarters at 7 P.M. The public is invited
